Young Artists Thank First Responders with Original Paintings

PALMDALE – Local young artists took time on National First Responders Day to present their original art to Los Angeles County Firefighters and to Deputies at the Palmdale Station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department as a “thank you” to these local heroes.

Children participating in Palmdale's Palettes in the Park programing created art with the intention of gifting it to our local heroes for National First Responders Day, which is recognized on Oct. 28. They were excited to say "thank you" to these brave men and women in person as they presented their art. The children and their families were treated to a tour of Fire Station #37, including the interior of the truck, and warmly received at Palmdale Station, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, by deputies and staff.

“These young artists have created truly heart-felt works of art,” said Palmdale Mayor Steve Hofbauer. “As a retired Firefighter paramedic, I know how deeply touched these dedicated men and woman must be to see these expressions of gratitude and thanks.”

The art was created on Sept. 24 at both Marie Kerr Park and Domenic Massari Park during a session of the award-winning Palettes in the Park program. 30 children were able to create individual, small paintings. The theme for this year’s Palettes in the Park was "First Responders". Some of the young artists opted to be part of the gifting in appreciation for the life saving and public safety work of our local first responders.

HISTORY OF NATIONAL FIRST RESPONDERS DAY

National First Responders Day recognizes the heroic men and women who make it their business to take immediate action when disaster strikes. Our brave paramedics, firefighters, emergency technicians, and others are appreciated on National First Responders Day, first designated by Congress to be Oct. 28 in 2017.
