Palmdale Councilmember Carrillo Completes Local Leaders Academy at USC

Palmdale City Councilmember Juan Carrillo achieved a Certificate of Recognition from USC’s Sol Price School of Public Policy for successfully completing the 2019 Local Leaders Academy.

The eight-session program, led by various faculty and presenters, was held Aug. through Oct. on Fridays and Saturdays. Carrillo was one of 29 participants to complete the intensive training.

This program is designed to equip local elected leaders with strategies that will further develop and refine their leadership skills and styles. Participants strengthen their network and increase efforts of collaboration between County of Los Angeles administration and the surrounding cities. Upon completion of this program, participants will have the necessary tools to implement growth and progress to local governance and administration within their communities.

The main program training topics were Presence and Social Awareness, Culture and Decision-Making, Negotiation and Influence, and Change Leadership
