The Antelope Valley Mosquito Abatement and Vector Control District was formed on August 21, 1958, through action taken by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors as a result of a petition submitted by the residents of the Antelope Valley.

The Antelope Valley Mosquito Abatement and Vector Control District is a five-member Board of Trustees whose members represent the citizens of Palmdale, Lancaster, and Los Angeles County.  The District works under the authority of the California Health and Safety Code Section 2000-2093.  Historically, Council has appointed a citizen who lives within the district boundaries; however, the last appointee was former Mayor Steve Hofbauer.

The meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of each month at 4:00 p.m. at 42624 6th Street East, Lancaster, CA.
