The California Vehicle Code (CVC) outlines procedures for the issuance of a parking citation [CVC 40200-40230]. You may view a copy of the California Vehicle Code at your local library or online at the California Department of Motor Vehicles website.

Ways to Pay Citations

You can be cited for not displaying current month and/or year tabs on your license plate. This citation is for current tabs not being properly displayed, NOT for failing to pay vehicle registration fees [CVC 5204].

California Vehicle Code requires that all vehicles display two license plates attached to the rear and front of vehicle [CVC 5200].
Vehicles cannot be parked in the same parking space for more than 72 hours. [CVC 22651(k)]

Of Special Note

  • You are required by law to keep your address with the DMV current. If you move to a new address, you must provide the new address to DMV within 10 days. If you do not notify DMV of a move, and reminder notices were sent to your old address, you will be responsible for any late fees added to your citation for not updating your address within the required time period.
  • If you were the registered vehicle owner at the time the ticket was issued, you are responsible for the ticket.
Administrative Citation

The Administrative Citation Program was established in response to the need for an alternative method of enforcement for various violations of the Palmdale Municipal Code.  As an alternative to criminal prosecution in specified circumstances, the use of an Administrative Citation could include: failure to maintain front yard landscaping, public nuisance or illegal dumping.

Any person violating any provision of the Palmdale Municipal Code or applicable State Code may be issued an administrative citation. Each and every day that a violation occurs constitutes a separate and distinct offense.

The failure to pay the fees or fines assessed within the time specified may result in the matter being referred to a collection agency. Any unpaid fees or fines will be assigned to a collection agency approximately 90 days after the original due date. Please note, a delinquent citation assesses 35% of the original fee which is added to the fine for collection/recovery costs.
